26th - Photos

I have not been into work or had WiFi at the hotel in the last two days and so have not updated this blog. I have written the entries though and will upload them tonight. For now I am posting the photos from the last 4 or 5 days. There are quite a few.

Some things are the same everywhere

The taxi back from the airport with Annu. The taxi driver had been left waiting by two girls he was meant to pick up for his hotel and so agreed to take us back. And he blazed Hindi music and gave us a little bit of a tour. Bargain.

25th

We have ridden a lot of autos today, and walked a hell of a lot too. And are now completely tired out. We have been to Sarojini Nagar again to get Annu's trousers sorted, and also to have some more of the delicious Pav Bhaji. I bought some of these orange dough biscuit things and they were so sweet we barely finished one between us. The other two I bought are in disgrace in our room.
We then headed to Hauz Khas village as we were told it was cool and hip. It looked a bit haggard to me. All the restaurants looked really over priced and western. We had a nice walk through Deer Park and saw a peacock and some rabbits. And then got a very exciting rickshaw ride back to Green Park metro. I feel like I've traveled the length and breadth of the Yellow line in three days.

Twenty fourth

Today we went to Sarojini nagar market and shopped. I bought some replacement sunglasses for a quid and Annu bought bangles and a three piece Indian suit. The suit was tailored to her measurements within a half hour. Or so we thought; when we got back to the hotel the trousers hadn't been taken in and they looked like something a clown might wear!
Tonight we heard what sounded like the elephant march from jungle book coming from the bottom floor of the hotel. When we went down to investigate it was a fully fledged wedding parade: drummers, trumpeters, and the grown mounted on horseback. Some of the groom's 'brothers' offered us an invitation but since we were both in pyjamas we had to decline. I hope this wedding on the 1st makes up for it!
