I went back to work today and despite the fact that I feel like I've been kidnapped I apologised profusely to Alka via text for arriving back two days late. I had already resolved to get in early before we left the Punjab and made it to the IHC before nine, skipping breakfast to do so. I made than made up for this, though, by having channa and chapatis at my desk at eleven o'clock.
I got stuck into work straight away because of my guilty conscience and made good progress before Alka rang and started asking me to do things for her. Because I'd taken a late breakfast I wasn't ready for lunch at twenty past twelve (which I took so I could be ready when the boss arrived) so instead I had a nice long walk followed by the best shave of my life. It cost twenty rupees and lasted for what felt like twenty minutes. He even trimmed my nose hair. I wish I'd filmed the whole job, it was like art.
Work followed work and finally a little bit of varied work came in the form of a meeting with Shobha, Alka and Mandi. Because the atmosphere was quite bad I made excuses to eat chocolate in the VAG office when I could. Despite my badness Alka gave me the Dairy Milk I'd requested her to bring back from England. I shared out with my colleagues and talked Preeti into not caring about the calories by saying it was special stuff from London. London means England here. Perhaps even the whole UK.
Izzy met me with a surprise during the meeting. She had come in early for the Spring Fever festival and had visited Khan Market on the way in. And had found a genuine French pastry shop. Mmm good.
We topped a good day off with a couple of cocktails each at Boombox Cafe at Khan Market. I met Izzy after the extremely dull Kebab talk had finished and we walked there. It was happy hour and that means 1 + 1 (2 for 1). Because of our restrictions we had left the pub by half 9, which still feels weird.
