Sixth day.
Just got skinned for my laundry, 10% service added then 40 more rupees added as baksheesh. Won't be getting it done there again.
So today I got to work, emailed Alka once and then was escorted to her house. Presumably because I asked for too many documents in one go.
She had an office set up for herself which she leant me for the day. She also got me a kettle and tea provisions. And milk. And then she fed me! It has been a karma-ridden day.
From her house I went to change my traveller's cheques in Connaught place again and, finally, it worked! I also got my new Indian mobile. I have already remembered my number.
Topping up here is so much more mobile than in the UK. You say you want to 'recharge' to the man behind the stall, he grabs his mobile and types in a special number. You type in you number twice, then the amount you later topping up, twice. He confirms it by putting a pin in on the same phone after and you're done. This guy could literally be anywhere, on the street, in the toilet with you, you name it. So sweet.
I've realised I talk about food a lot in this blog. Its because meal times are a special time as I am alone so all my concentration goes into it. And it has rewarded me so far!
Edit.
I forgot to mention. The photo is of the place I have been eating dinner most nights. The bit above the sign has no outer wall. They cook the breads up there and then hand them down to the chef (on the right) who quickly heats them through. It is lush.
